About 30,000 people were ordered to evacuate their homes Saturday in the western Canadian province of British Columbia, provincial officials said, as a massive wildfire approached the city of Kelowna.
“The situation is very fluid, and the numbers are changing all the time, but now we are talking about evacuation orders for about 30,000 people in addition to putting 36,000 people on evacuation alert”, said Bowen Ma, the provincial emergency management minister.
