Microsoft Initiates Media Invitations for Special Event in New York: Anticipating Product Announcements
Microsoft has commenced sending out invitations to media outlets for a “special event” set to take place in New York City next month.
The invitation card states, “Mark your calendar for Thursday, September 21, 2023, for a special event by Microsoft.”
Considering that the American tech giant traditionally holds its Surface device-focused event in September or October each year, it’s likely that this scheduled event will be dedicated to unveiling new products.
Rumors have been circulating for a while that Microsoft is working on the Surface Go 4, Surface Laptop Studio 2, and Surface Laptop Go 3, all slated for a fall 2023 release.
Windows Central, a specialized Microsoft news site, recently reported that the updated Surface Laptop Studio 2 will come equipped with the latest Intel processors, a more powerful GPU for graphics processing, and an enhanced array of ports, it’s also rumored that Microsoft has postponed the launch of the Surface Go 4, which was originally intended to feature an ARM processor, in favor of a processor from Intel.
The anticipated Surface Laptop Go 3 is said to feature Intel’s twelfth-generation processors and an improved base configuration.
This will be Microsoft’s first “special event” since reshuffling its hardware portfolio amid the company’s earlier round of mass layoffs this year, these changes led to the cancellation of the release of branded Microsoft mice, keyboards, and web cameras, redirecting the company’s focus towards its Surface devices.
The event might also include details about the upcoming major Windows 11 update, especially following Microsoft’s earlier announcement this year about the planned September update for Windows 11, featuring native support for compressed files like RAR and 7-Zip, a new main settings page, and early access to its intelligent assistant, Windows Copilot.
