Saudi Arabia and Iran Discuss Strengthening Cooperation in Landmark Meeting

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation with Iran during a joint press conference held in Riyadh with his Iranian counterpart Hussein Amir-Abdollahian who is currently visiting the kingdom. The meeting marked a significant milestone in the diplomatic relations between the two countries and their regional security efforts.

The Saudi Foreign Minister called for continued consultations with Tehran in the future and highlighted the need for a “new phase” in the bilateral relations with Iran. He expressed appreciation for Iran’s support for Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the international exhibition “Expo 2030.”

During the discussions, various regional and international issues of mutual interest were addressed. Both ministers acknowledged the common challenges faced and expressed their countries’ commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

Abdollahian described the talks held in Saudi Arabia as fruitful and affirmed that the relations between the two nations are heading in the right direction, witnessing progress. He stressed the determination of Riyadh and Tehran to develop relations across all domains, emphasizing the importance of adopting the correct approach in relations with regional countries.

The discussions in Saudi Arabia also encompassed the Palestinian issue, which was recognized as a fundamental concern for the Islamic world. Additionally, it was revealed that the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is set to visit Saudi Arabia in the near future.

Overall, the meeting between the Saudi and Iranian foreign ministers signaled a significant step forward in bilateral relations, indicating a shared commitment to cooperation and regional stability.
