WhatsApp Tests Artificial Intelligence Stickers Feature

WABetaInfo, a renowned source for tracking experimental features in WhatsApp, reported on Monday that the instant messaging service is testing a novel feature enabling users to create stickers using generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

According to the specialized website, after releasing the feature that allows users to add multiple accounts on the same device, the new beta version 2.23.17.14 of the app focuses on enhancing the messaging experience.

The site added, “Specifically, thanks to the latest version of WhatsApp Beta, we discovered that a very limited group of beta testers may now create AI stickers and share them starting from today!”

WABetaInfo posted a screenshot showing a new button named “Create” when opening the keyboard in the stickers tab, when selecting this option, users will be prompted to input a description that will be used to generate the sticker.

WhatsApp will offer a selection of AI stickers that were generated using the previously entered description, users can then share the stickers they want in their conversations.

According to the website, these AI stickers are created using secure technology provided by Meta, users can control the stickers, and if they find a sticker inappropriate or harmful, they can report it to Meta.

This feature is believed to bring two additions to the user experience, by inputting descriptions to generate AI stickers, users can create highly personalized stickers relevant to their interests, experiences, or conversations, this level of customization can enhance the overall messaging experience and make conversations more engaging.

Furthermore, users don’t need advanced design skills or external tools; they can simply input a description to start creating stickers related to written phrases.

WABetaInfo stated that the feature to create and share AI stickers is currently available to a very limited group of beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp Beta update for the Android operating system, it will be gradually rolled out to more users in the coming weeks.

For those interested in trying out these new features, they can subscribe to the WhatsApp Beta program on Android or download the latest beta version of the app manually, the iOS beta program is also available for subscription.
