The Saudi Zakat and Tax, and Customs Authority Foils Attempt to Smuggle Over 2 Million Captagon Pills

The Saudi Zakat and Tax, and Customs Authority in Jeddah Islamic Port succeeded in foiling an attempt to smuggle 2,242,560 Captagon pills. The pills were discovered concealed in a shipment that arrived in the Kingdom through the port.

The authority explained that the shipment was declared as “baklava” sweets, but upon undergoing customs procedures and being inspected using security technologies the quantity of pills was found hidden beneath the layers of the baklava.

After completing the seizure process the authority coordinated with the General Directorate for Narcotics Control to ensure the apprehension of the recipients of the seized items within the Kingdom. Two individuals were apprehended.

The Zakat and Tax, and Customs Authority emphasized its commitment to strengthening customs control on the imports and exports of the Kingdom It remains vigilant against smuggling attempts in line with its strategy to enhance the security and protection of society by reducing attempts to smuggle such prohibited substances.
