Saudi media personel, Walid Al-Faraj, has expressed his view that the Al-Hilal vs Al-Nassr derby is the strongest in the Middle East, while the Al-Ahly vs Zamalek match holds that distinction solely within the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Walid Al-Faraj about the derby
In statements made on MBC Action channel, Walid Al-Faraj stated, “The Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal derby is the strongest in the Middle East.
I have a fondness for Al-Ahly from Egypt and I respect Egyptian football.
However, for now, please understand that when you look at the elements of Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr, the Al-Ahly and Zamalek derby is limited to the Arab Republic of Egypt only.”
Continuing his remarks, he added, “The Al-Ahly and Zamalek derby lacks a substantial international audience, but if you observe the caliber of players in Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal, please consider this perspective.”
Al-Faraj concluded by saying, “The Egyptian league primarily caters to a domestic audience, unlike the Saudi league which is broadcast on 40 channels worldwide. It’s important to adapt to the upcoming phase.”
