Exciting Changes Coming in Apple’s iOS 17: Enhanced Phone App Features and User Interface Updates
The new beta version of Apple’s iOS 17 reveals that it will bring one of the biggest updates to the Phone app for iPhones in years.
The updated Phone app, included in the recent software update, finally adds real-time transcription for voicemail, as well as “contact stickers” that allow users to choose an image to appear when calling another person’s iPhone, the user interface has been refreshed with your font.
Additionally, Apple has rearranged the button placements, moving the “End Call” button to the bottom-right corner in the latest beta version of iOS 17, instead of its previous position as a singular button in the center of the screen, slightly separated from other buttons.
It’s believed that some users might find it challenging to adjust to the new position of the “End Call” button, as they will now need to tap a button on the side of the screen, rather than pressing in the center of the bottom screen like in previous versions of iOS.
iOS 17 is currently available in beta, and the final stable version will be launched to all users in the fall of 2023, following the announcement of the anticipated iPhone 15 models.
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time Apple has rearranged a longstanding user interface element to place buttons closer to the bottom of the phone, providing more comfort, especially with the increase in screen sizes.
In 2021, Apple made changes to its Safari browser in a beta release of iOS 15, placing the URL address bar at the bottom and updating its design.
However, when the final version of the system was launched in September 2021, Apple modified the design and reverted some changes, offering users the option to move the URL address bar back to the top of the page.
