Arsenal settle deal for Brentford goalkeeper David Raya for £30m

English clubs Arsenal and Brentford have reached a final agreement on the transfer of goalkeeper David Raya to the Gunners for £30 million, in a summer transfer to strengthen the goalkeeping position during the current summer transfer window.

According to the British newspaper “Telegraph”, Arsenal’s move to sign Raya, as a long-term goal by the Gunners’ management, comes after they agreed to the departure of Matt Turner to Nottingham Forest in a deal that could be worth up to £10 million.

Raya is set to feature with Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who is now facing a battle to retain the no.1 shirt at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal first tried to sign Raya in the summer of 2020, and goalkeeping coach Inaki had previously worked with the Spaniard at Brentford.

Earlier, Ramsdale was asked about the possibility of another goalkeeper entering the club, and said: “I bring it Nothing comes easily in football, at the same time you need to move and adapt as well.”

“I did it for other people when I moved to clubs so I wouldn’t think that would never happen to me, if that happens it will happen and then we will fight and make each other the best version of ourselves because that’s what the manager also tells us,” Ramsdale added.
