Elon Musk’s Glowing Twitter Logo Sparks Controversy in San Francisco

After extraordinary efforts in development, Elon Musk unveiled the new Twitter logo in the form of the letter “X” with glowing lights on the surface of the Tesla building in San Francisco, he confirmed that the company would not be leaving the city, however, city officials and some residents are not pleased with the logo.

The luminous (X) logo has caused annoyance among neighbors, who complained about the excessively bright lights, San Francisco’s building inspection department stated that they are investigating the matter.

This move followed a post from Musk, the enigmatic billionaire who acquired the company for $44 billion in October of last year, declaring that Tesla will remain in San Francisco despite what he called the city’s “spiral of death,” as other companies left one after the other.

Musk, who is also the CEO of the electric car manufacturer Tesla, had previously relocated the company’s headquarters from California to Texas in 2021, keeping (X) headquarters in San Francisco could be a positive sign for a city struggling to recover from the losses of tourism and business during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The downtown area has been facing issues of tech sector layoffs, the departure of major retailers, and a decline in tourism, traffic has decreased with an increasing number of people working from home, while crime and homelessness have become prominent issues for the city.

Musk wrote, “Beautiful San Francisco, despite others forsaking you, we will always be your friends.”

However, not all San Francisco residents are keen on being “friends with Musk.” Local residents recorded a video of the giant glowing and pulsating (X) logo during the weekend, with some criticizing its intrusive lights.

Meanwhile, San Francisco’s building inspection department opened an investigation into the logo, stating that it might be a violation of licensing rules.

A building inspection department inspector reported that the company representatives prevented officials from inspecting the logo on the roof twice. However, one of the company representatives claimed that the logo is temporary.
