“After the Sunset”: Egypt Changes Match Schedule for Electricity Conservation

Cairo, Egypt – In an effort to conserve electricity, Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly has issued several decisions affecting the current period. The Prime Minister has instructed the Ministry of Sports, under the leadership of Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, to schedule matches before sunset in order to minimize electricity consumption.

Starting from next Sunday, July 30th, the matches for the 2022-2023 Egyptian Cup will commence, with Al Ahly taking on Al Daqahliya in the round of 16. The winner of this match will face Al Masry in the quarterfinals. Following this stage, the competitions will be temporarily suspended to prepare for the 2023-2024 sports season.

Egypt is known for its electricity shortage, with power outages being a common occurrence. The government has been implementing various measures to address the issue in an attempt to reduce the strain on the country’s energy resources. By rescheduling matches to be held before sunset, Egypt aims to optimize electricity usage and contribute to ongoing efforts in conserving power.

Sports enthusiasts and football fans will need to adjust their schedules accordingly to accommodate the changes in match timings. The Ministry of Sports will continue to monitor the situation and assess the impact of the new schedule on teams, players, and fans alike.
