WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that allows users to send high-definition (HD) photos, a significant improvement to the media sharing experience. The feature is being tested in the latest beta versions of WhatsApp for iOS and Android.
WhatsApp HD photo sharing option!
As shown in the screenshot above, users can now choose a better quality when sending large-sized photos. However, it’s worth noting that while this option preserves the image dimensions, light compression is still applied, and the photos are not sent in their original quality. The default option remains “Standard quality,” so users must select the HD option each time they want to send a photo with improved quality.
When a high-quality photo is sent, a new tag is automatically added to the message bubble, indicating to the recipient that the image was shared using this feature. It’s important to note that this feature only applies to images shared in conversations and does not affect video sharing or status updates.
The ability to send HD photos is gradually rolling out to beta testers who have installed the latest versions of WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS. More users are expected to gain access to this feature in the coming weeks.
