Attorney General Conducts Inspection Visit to Badr Correctional and Rehabilitation Center
Egyptian Attorney General Counselor “Mohamed Shawky”, along with a team of public prosecutors, conducted an inspection visit on Tuesday, September 3rd, to the Badr Correctional and Rehabilitation Center. The purpose of the visit was to assess the conditions of the inmates and their living circumstances.
During the visit, the Attorney General inspected the inmates’ wards, where the prosecution team listened to several inmates regarding their assessment of their living conditions. They also reviewed the complaints log and spoke with some inmates who had previously filed complaints, directing the center’s management to address these issues.
Additionally, the Attorney General and the prosecution team visited the medical center attached to the correctional and rehabilitation center, where they observed the conditions of the inmates receiving care and their access to appropriate medical services. The visit also included inspections of exercise areas, visitation locations and their logs, places of worship, the reading library, sports fields, and hobby rooms.
At the conclusion of the visit, the prosecution team inspected the food preparation areas to evaluate the suitability of the food and compliance with health requirements. The Attorney General praised the effective management and employment of the inmates by the center, particularly those involved in literacy classes, Quran memorization, and library services. He also commended the healthcare provided to the children of female inmates who remain with them until the age of four. The Attorney General affirmed that the Public Prosecution will continue to regularly inspect correctional and rehabilitation centers to ensure standards are upheld.
