As a consequence of these harsh weather events, tens of thousands find themselves bereft of power in various corners of the country. The statistics paint a stark picture, with close to 10,000 enduring power outages in Oregon, 8,000 in North Carolina, 7,000 in California, and 4,300 in Kentucky as of Sunday. The repercussions of these tempests wait, creating an inescapable shaded area over the impacted locales.

In the interim, the icy conditions show no signs of relenting until mid-week, with meteorologists anticipating a subsequent thaw. However, cautionary notes from some meteorological quarters warn of potential flooding in parts of the Midwest and the north-eastern United States as warm air and rain loom on the horizon.

A meticulous compilation by CBS has documented a total of 89 fatalities linked to weather-related incidents across the country in the past week. A tragic incident unfolded in Portland, Oregon, last Wednesday, where three individuals met their demise through electrocution. Miraculously, a baby present in the vehicle survived the harrowing ordeal.
