Evie Ring, a standout wearable device announced at CES 2024, is a smart ring designed specifically for women, crafted by Movana Health, it aims to facilitate the tracking of health data, particularly menstrual and sleep data.
Awarded at CES 2024 for innovation, Evie Ring is ideal for women who prefer monitoring health indicators without a smartwatch, opting for a smaller device.
First introduced at CES 2023, Evie Ring became available for purchase in January this year, Movano Health’s CEO, John Mastrototaro, after last year’s announcement, highlighted the ring’s design to meet women’s health needs at all life stages.
Reintroduced at CES 2024, Movano Health’s CEO reaffirmed the company’s focus on enhancing the ring’s capabilities in analyzing women’s health data.
How does Evie Ring use AI for data analysis?
Evie Ring employs AI technology to detect correlations between menstrual cycles, mood, energy levels, sleep, and activity, analyzing data recorded by women in the Evie app and tracked by the ring.
For instance, the ring can detect reduced sleep during certain menstrual phases, users receive alerts like, “Your sleep may decrease during this menstrual phase due to lower progesterone levels.”
Furthermore, the ring uses AI to detect mood improvements linked to increased physical activity, for example, if a woman’s mood improves after walking 1,000 steps more than average, she’ll receive an alert: “We’ve noticed your mood improves when you walk 1,000 steps more than your daily average.”
Women can also log menstrual cycles and mood, allowing the app to predict upcoming cycles and ovulation times, over the next few months, the company plans to enhance the ring’s AI features to detect more data related to menstrual cycles, mood, and other health indicators.
Besides tracking menstrual cycles, the ring’s sensors measure other vital signs during the day, such as resting heart rate, heart rate variability, blood oxygen saturation (Sp02), and respiratory rate.
Evie Ring also tracks these indicators during sleep, monitoring sleep hours, recognizing wake times, deep and light sleep phases.
Like smartwatches, Evie Ring tracks daily steps, distance walked, exercise time, and calories burned, providing all this data in the Evie app.
Currently, the Evie app is available only for iPhone users in the App Store, but an Android version is planned for the second quarter of 2024.
Using the app, women can set specific goals for sleep, physical activity, or steps, the app’s Spot Check feature offers easy access to heart rate and blood oxygen levels at any time, it provides a daily summary, showcasing all the data and indicators collected by the ring.
