Europa League Redemption| Roma’s Quest for Continental Glory

Roma is determined to lift their first UEFA Europa League trophy, which would not only redeem a faltering end to their domestic campaign but also secure their spot in the Champions League. Paulo Dybala may feature in the match.

In Budapest, Roma hopes to unleash a triumphant roar, making up for the UEFA Cup final they lost 32 years ago. If the match ends after regular time, these 90 minutes could be worth an infinite amount considering that a win against Sevilla would mean becoming the “second European force” and securing a place in the group stage of the next Champions League—entering the most prestigious continental competition through the main door.

At the same time, a victory would also redeem a domestic campaign with too many setbacks. Roma’s last win dates back to April 16th, when Mourinho’s team defeated Udinese 3-0 at the Olimpico. Since then, they have secured only four draws and suffered three losses, as in the last round in Florence.

Regarding the line-up, there is good news for the “Special One.” Both Paulo Dybala and Leonardo Spinazzola took part in the final training session on the eve of the match. The Argentine has an increased chance of playing a part in the game, while Spinazzola is poised to start. Rick Karsdorp has also rejoined the group after his left knee meniscus injury. The only absentee is Marash Kumbulla. Stephan El Shaarawy, not just for his goal against Fiorentina, is pushing for a starting spot.

The wait is almost over: Roma fans, and Italians in general, hope to celebrate the first of three European trophies.

Probable Line-ups

Sevilla (4-2-3-1): Bono; Navas, Bade, Gudelj, Telles; Fernando, Rakitic; Ocampos, Torres, Lamela; En-Nesyri. Coach: Mendilibar

Roma (3-5-1-1): Rui Patricio; Mancini, Smalling, Ibañez; Zalewski, Cristante, Matic, Wijnaldum, Spinazzola; Pellegrini; Abraham (El Sharaawy). Coach: Mourinho
