Authorities swiftly apprehended the driver, a man in his fifties, reported to be affiliated with a right-wing group. Tokyo Police, maintaining a cautious approach, have refrained from commenting on the ongoing investigation.

Fuji Television provided early coverage of the event, displaying footage of a dark, small-sized vehicle lodged against the barrier. The Tokyo Fire Department, receiving an emergency call at 11:57 AM, dispatched an ambulance to the scene.

A nearby restaurant worker, speaking to NHK, Japan’s public broadcaster, recounted the loud noise that drew him outside. He described a distressing scene where a wounded police officer, bleeding and in pain, lay near a traffic barrier.

Reuters witnesses observed security forces sealing off the vicinity, where the black car showed visible damage to its front lights.

This incident, occurring in a highly secure area, has raised concerns about the adequacy of current security measures and the potential motives behind such an act.
