Black Hat 2023: Exploring Cybersecurity Advancements and Global Industry Participation

The second edition of the Cybersecurity event “Black Hat” is set to kick off tomorrow, Tuesday, November 14th, under the theme of “Advancements in the Cybersecurity Sector,” the event will take place at the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center and will run until November 16th.

Organized by the Saudi Cybersecurity and Programming Federation, in collaboration with the “Alliance” company, the event is expected to host over 250 sessions covering various topics related to cybersecurity.

Discussions will encompass critical cybersecurity subjects such as the role of software in modern warfare, direct penetrations, safeguarding security and resilience in the digital community, dealing with ransomware, and other pertinent issues.

The second edition of the event will feature an elite group of experts and speakers in the cybersecurity sector, including leaders from renowned global companies such as Uber, Netflix, Snapchat, BAE Systems, Airbus, and more.

Major international and local companies are actively participating in Black Hat 2023, including IBM, Cisco, Huawei, Spire Solutions, Trend Micro, Google Cloud, Cloudflare, Qualys, Illumio, SITE, Mobily, Cyberani, and many others. The event will also host various competitions and challenges with prizes exceeding 1,000,000 SAR.

The well-known “Capture the Flag” competition, with over 1,000 participants in this edition, will involve challenges related to exploiting vulnerabilities, thwarting attacks, decrypting encrypted information, and more.

Additionally, there will be a “Bounty Hunt” competition, featuring live contests to discover programming vulnerabilities and investigate flaws in company websites, participants will also experience hacking medical devices in an interactive challenge and explore how to protect them, other challenges include Electronic Contracts Hacking, Smart City Infrastructure Exploitation, Drones Hacking, Electronic Chip Exploitation, and an Escape Room Challenge.

Engineer Mohammed Al-Shammari, the General Supervisor of Cybersecurity and a board member of the Saudi Cybersecurity and Programming Federation, emphasized the importance of this event, he stated that Black Hat 2023 will host speakers from leading global cybersecurity experts, providing insights that will shape the future of cybersecurity.

The event offers a dedicated app for visitors to facilitate easy navigation through platform agendas, speaker details, and event information, available on the App Store and Google Play.
