Mohamed Salah challenges Moroccan national team stars for the title of Best African Player of 2023 

Egyptian Pharaoh Mohamed Salah faces a tough challenge against the stars of the Moroccan national team to determine the Best African Player of 2023. The ceremony to determine the best player, along with several other awards, is scheduled to take place on December 11, 2023.

The African Football Confederation published the list of nominated players for the best player on its official page on the social media platform “X” on Wednesday, November 1, The list includes 25 players, headed by the Egyptian Pharaoh Mohamed Salah and the stars of the Moroccan national team.

Salah won’t be the only Egyptian player on that list, as players from the Egyptian club Al-Ahly, the Red Devils, are also included. This is due to their victory in the CAF Champions League for the eleventh time in the history of the illustrious club, These players include forward Mahmoud Kahraba, goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy, and the outstanding defender Mohamed Abdel-Moneim.

However, the competition this season will be highly intense with the stars of the Moroccan national team, who delivered outstanding performances in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, reaching the semi-finals and finishing in fourth place.

The list includes several stars from the Moroccan national team, such as:

  • Youssef En-Nesyri, the star of Sevilla FC in Spain.
  • Sofiane Amrabat, Manchester United player.
  •  Yassine Bounou, Al Hilal Saudi Club player.
  • Azzedine Ounahi, Olympique de Marseille player.
  • Achraf Hakimi, Paris Saint-Germain player.
  • Hakim Ziyech, Galatasaray player.

The Algerian stars Riyad Mahrez and Ramy Bensebaini are also on the list, as well as the Tunisian player Mohamed Ben Ali Ramadan.
