Microsoft Introduces Enhanced Windows Ink Features in Windows 11

Microsoft has introduced new changes to Windows Ink in Windows 11, allowing users to write anywhere that accepts inputs.

The handwriting-to-text conversion is now enabled within search boxes and other elements where you typically enter inputs in Windows 11, following months of previewing the changes.

Microsoft released the non-security update KB5031455 as a preview to Windows 11 users and can be obtained by going to Windows Update and changing the “Get the latest updates as soon as they are available” option to receive this update before it becomes fully available in the coming weeks.

This new feature is currently available for US English only, with support for additional languages coming soon, Microsoft has also improved handwriting recognition technology, making it more accurate in this update, there are gestures for deleting, selecting, collecting, and splitting words, as well as a gesture to split text into a new line.

This update includes a number of bug fixes in the Windows 11 operating system, including fixing memory leaks in the ctfmon.exe file and improvements to the new Dynamic Lighting feature.

With this latest update to the Windows Ink feature, Microsoft aims to enhance the overall user experience for Surface and Windows Tablet owners.

Simplifying the input process and improving handwriting recognition technology enhances the operating system as a powerful platform for both productivity and creative tasks.

The new Windows Ink update is compatible with Surface devices with a pen, as well as other Windows tablets that support Windows Ink.

The KB5031455 update serves as a preview of the update expected to be released next month for everyone and is available for Windows 11 22H2, including all the features of Moment 4, such as Copilot and the new system components section in the settings.

Almost every area of the Windows 11 operating system receives some kind of update, from the Start menu and taskbar to settings, file explorer, and accessibility features.
