On Monday, Instagram’s CEO, Adam Mosseri, made an announcement about the platform’s ongoing test of a new feature, this feature allows users to view posts exclusively from subscribers of the Meta Verified service.
Mosseri, through his channel, stated, “We are exploring this as a new tool for individuals and a way to discover businesses and content creators.”
The switch option, displaying posts solely from Meta Verified subscribers, will appear alongside the ‘Follow’ and ‘Favorite’ options when clicking on the Instagram logo at the top of the application.
The significance of this switch option is expected to make the subscription to Meta Verified, priced at $11.99 per month on the web and $14.99 on mobile devices, more attractive, it provides individuals with a new way to enhance their presence on Instagram.
However, Mosseri did not specify the extent of the testing of this new feature or who will have access to it. Nevertheless, he encouraged others to “let us know if you’re interested in using this.” Earlier this year, Meta introduced its paid service, Meta Verified, to users on its social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram. It offers features such as the blue verification badge, enhanced customer support, and protection against identity theft.
The company initially tested this service in Australia and New Zealand, then expanded it to the United States a month later. In September, they announced that Meta Verified would also be available to business accounts.
