Concurrently, Salah’s Instagram account, which boasts a following of 62.9 million, also recorded a slight drop, settling at 62.8 million followers. This minor shift on Instagram may also be indicative of the ongoing concerns among his fanbase.

The massive unfollowing comes as a digital protest against Salah’s silence on the Palestinian issue. This disengagement has sparked discussions online about the role public figures should play in addressing political and humanitarian concerns.

In another development, the Egyptian international is prepping for a friendly match against the Algeria national team. The game is scheduled for Monday, October 16th, at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium and is set to kick off at 4:00 PM at GMT time. This follows Egypt’s recent 1-0 victory over Zambia last Thursday in another friendly match.

This sudden decline in Salah’s digital popularity opens up several dialogues about the expectations and responsibilities that accompany global stardom. It also calls into question whether silence is a form of complicity or a personal choice that ought to be respected.
