Footage from the scene shows injured journalists amid local residents’ attempts to administer first aid. The incident adds a fresh chapter to the recurring issue of targeting non-combatants in conflict zones.

Najib Mikati, the acting Prime Minister of Lebanon, decried the incident as a “new disgraceful stain” added to Israel’s “dark history of aggression and killing.” Mikati stated that the deliberate targeting of journalists by Israeli forces marked a new low in the ongoing conflicts between the nations.

Israeli artillery bombardments targeted multiple Lebanese towns on the southern border, including Adaisseh, Dheira, Ramiya, Aita Al-Shaab, and Alma Al-Shaab. In addition to the gathering of journalists, one of the Lebanese Army’s observation towers in the vicinity of the Dheira town was also struck.

This incident occurs amid escalating tensions involving Hezbollah and Israeli forces exchanging rocket fire across the southern Lebanese-Israeli border. The heightened tensions coincide with intense Israeli bombings in the Gaza Strip, which follow an unprecedented attack on Israel by Hamas involving rocket launches and infiltration operations.
