Samsung has officially revealed the second generation of its tracking device, the Galaxy SmartTag 2, this new device supports both Bluetooth and Ultra Wideband (UWB) technologies, unlike the first version.
Samsung has completely redesigned the SmartTag 2, giving it a rectangular shape instead of the previous fob-like design, it retains the keyring hole and has added a metal frame to prevent corrosion, while improving its dust and water resistance to IP67 standards, making it waterproof up to one meter for 30 minutes.
The Galaxy SmartTag 2 is available in black and white colors and will be available for purchase in the market starting from October at a price of $30 or the equivalent in local currencies for various countries.
The device features a replaceable battery with a longer lifespan compared to the first version, lasting up to 500 days.
When the power-saving mode is activated, the battery life can extend up to 700 days, for pet owners, Samsung has provided modes for tracking your pets when they go missing or when you’re walking them.
The Galaxy SmartTag 2 is compatible only with Samsung devices through the SmartThings app and does not support Google’s Find My Device service.
Samsung’s app allows users to track SmartTag devices using augmented reality for easier access and alerts users if they are being tracked by unknown SmartTag devices.
Overall, the Galaxy SmartTag 2 offers enhanced design, longer battery life, and added features for pet tracking, providing users with improved tracking and security options for their belongings and pets.
