Unsettling Escalation: Palestinian Youth Stabs Israeli Guard in East Jerusalem Tramway Incident, Both Sustain Injuries
In a recent development highlighting the tensions in East Jerusalem, a 19-year-old Palestinian man allegedly stabbed an Israeli security guard at a tramway station. The assailant was subsequently injured by gunfire from two other security personnel.
The incident occurred at the Giv’at HaMivtar tramway station in northern Jerusalem. The Israeli Police stated in a release that the young man, a resident of East Jerusalem, carried out a “stabbing attack” before he was “neutralized within seconds” by two other security personnel who opened fire.
The Palestinian individual sustained serious injuries and is currently in police custody, receiving medical treatment. According to Hadassah Hospital, the Israeli guard victim of the attack is being treated for injuries to his hand.
This event follows a previous incident where a 38-year-old Palestinian man from the occupied West Bank rammed his car into an Israeli guard at the Qalandia checkpoint in northern Jerusalem, causing minor injuries. The individual was later apprehended by police.
