A 20-year-old university student from Brussels died in his bed several hours after eating a tomato pasta dish, according to the British newspaper “The Sun”.
According to the newspaper, the young man had prepared a pasta dish 5 days ago and left it in the kitchen outside the refrigerator, and after spending a day at school, he heated the meal in the microwave before going out to exercise.
But after suffering from headaches, stomach aches and nausea, he returned home after just 30 minutes.
Details of the death of the young man
The young man vomited profusely, suffered from diarrhea, slept around midnight, and when his worried parents went to check on him at 11 a.m. the next day, they found him dead.
The legal examination found that he died at about four o’clock in the morning, about 10 hours after eating the pasta dish.
Autopsy report confirms: food poisoning
An autopsy report later revealed that food poisoning caused by Bacillus waxox bacteria, a strain that causes disease in humans and is transmitted to humans through contaminated food.
The report’s authors said: “Spaghetti was kept at room temperature for several days, this allowed bacteria to grow and potentially responsible for the fatal outcome.
Social media users were terrified that “something very simple” could kill them.
“I eat pizza regularly a day or two after leaving it on the side, I had no idea,” one person said.
Another wrote: “3 days is my base for leftovers, I’ll reconsider that.”
