The storm, which originated in the Mediterranean Sea, has already brought heavy rains to parts of Libya and Egypt. In Matrouh, the rains have been moderate to heavy, causing flooding in some areas.

“We are taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of residents,” said Mayor of Matrouh Amr Abdel-Majeed. “We have mobilized our emergency teams and equipment to clear any flooding that may occur.”

The mayor said that the city’s emergency operations center is monitoring the situation closely. He also said that the city is coordinating with other government agencies, including the Civil Defense, the Traffic Police, the Water Resources and Irrigation Ministry, and the Water and Sewerage Company, to ensure a swift response to any flooding.

The Daniel storm is expected to bring heavy rains, strong winds, and high waves to Matrouh and other parts of Egypt’s Mediterranean coast.
