Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Thursday that the text-based social platform Threads has begun rolling out its search feature.
Zuckerberg had teased the arrival of search functionality to Threads last week, and he added to his original post yesterday, stating that the feature is now launching for most English and Spanish-speaking countries and will be rolled out to more countries soon.
In a statement to tech site The Verge, Meta spokesperson Sin Kim confirmed that the feature is coming to both the United States and the United Kingdom and will also be available on the platform’s web application.
Threads had initially tested the feature in Australia and New Zealand in August, allowing users to search platform posts based on specific keywords, a significant expansion from its previous search capability, which focused on finding users only.
With the new search feature, the app will continue to display lists of users related to your search term, however, selecting the “Search for” option at the top will enable you to scroll through posts containing that keyword.
The testing of this new feature comes just days after Meta announced the launch of the web version of Threads, making the platform accessible via web browsers.
Meta launched the Threads app at the beginning of July, and it saw massive success, attracting over 100 million sign-ups in its first week amid months of turmoil on Twitter.
